Search by sequence
  • Nick February 2011
I noticed your search functionality is based on ID and synonyms search. Do you have a possibility of search by sequences?
First sequence by search is more precise then search by IDs, because ID search produces multiple results for one ID because of synonyms and ID conflicts.
Second I am doing a lot of blast searches and sequence and phylogenetic analysis, so for me and those doing sequense analysis it is more suitable provide a sequence search instead search by IDs.

    Thanks very much!

    Thanks for a good suggestion.

We do currently have a sequence search for features. It is available from advanced search (binocular at the right top) by attributes where you can query any attribute by sequence
Just put your piece of sequence (or load from file) and say "contains" in "any" attribute.

We are panning to have a sequence search from main search window as addition to search by synonyms, which will scan not only genes and proteins by any sequence element (no-regulatory sequence, promoter, etc.) in the sequence part of our database.
